NEWEN AFROBEAT

VIBRANT AFROBEAT WITH DRIVING LATINO SPIRIT

Colorful, hip, passionate and with a force of energy that’s undeniable, this young Chilean orchestra celebrates afrobeat in their own, Latin-American way. Newen is Mapudungan, one of Chile’s indigenous languages, for ‘power’ or ‘spirit that is found in all things’. The group claims to bring the afrobeat that is connected with the Fela Kuti spirit, but infused with their own powerful Latino temperament and a strong South-American component. This young orchestra, who are on the road to success, fits perfectly in the worldwide afrobeat revival of DJ’s and music collectives we see. Twelve man strong, Newen Afrobeat is a close musical family and live orchestra with as much focus on dance as on music!
