KE HABER? (WHAT’S NEW?) world première
A JOURNEY INTO THE MUSICAL HERITAGE OF LADINO CULTURE
Ke Haber is an intercultural project of the Israeli singer Noam Vazana in which she explores the origins of Ladino music with artists from the Netherlands, Morocco, Turkey and Surinam. Ladino, almost the lost language of the Sephardic Jews, who survived the Spanish Inquisition and has been preserved through the efforts of Jewish women around the world. Noam Vazana, Anass Habib, Esra Dafidan and storyteller Urias Boerleider, will take you through the history, using the rich Ladino culture as a source of inspiration. “Ke Haber” means “What’s new?” And that’s exactly what the project is all about: finding a new, fresh Ladino sound.
This project is a co-production of Noam Vazana and Amsterdam Roots.
