NAMIBIAN TALES: KALAHARI ENCOUNTERS (SOLD OUT!)

ANCIENT BUSHMEN HARMONICS MEETS CONTEMPORARY AFRO SOUNDS

A year after the release of the successful debut album Itaala, the Namibian Tales are back at Amsterdam Roots Festival with a very new project. Kalahari Encounters is the result of an intense investigation and a special collaboration between Shishani and her musicians and the San, the oldest inhabitants of the Kalahari Desert. Centuries-old San traditions and Western music are tastefully mixed into a new repertoire in which four women from the San community sings. The result is a film for the ears. Rarely heard vocals and complex rhythms merge seamlessly with the warm sounds and the rhythmic ‘drive’ of the Namibian Tales.
