SOULFUL REGGAE FROM AROUND THE CORNER
For good reggae, you don’t have to travel to Jamaica. Almere is far enough because that’s what reggae formation The Dubbeez calls home. The talented seven young musicians take Lee “Scratch” Perry, King Tubby and Damian Marley as their great examples. They give a contemporary, soulful twist to the classic roots reggae and dub with well thought out compositions. Their infectious energy and impassioned vocals are what make The Dubbeez the big reggae promise that they are. In 2016 they won the World Reggae Contest at the Ostróda Reggae Festival in Poland. The prize being a week in Jamaica to record their (debut) album. Last year The Dubbeez opened for Alpha Blondy, they got everyone dancing in Pradiso’s main hall. Now that they’ve played Paaspop, Zwarte Cross and Kwaku, it’s Roots Open Air’s turn to meet this talented formation.
