For 45 years the BIMHUIS has been the stage for groundbreaking musicians of all generations, from home and abroad. Since 2018 Amsterdam Roots and Bimhuis expanded their collaboration, with a concert-series dedicated to celebrating music from countries ranging from India to Brazil. In 2020 we are proud to present 3MA ft Ballaké Sissoko, Driss-el-maloumi and Rajery on Saturday 21st March, Shabaka and the Ancestors on Wednesday 29th April and two festival nights during the Amsterdam Roots Festival week in June.

3MA ft Ballaké Sissoko, Driss-el-maloumi, Rajery | Wed 21 March 2020

Enchanting string playing by three fantastic musicians. Ballaké Sissoko has won the hearts of fans all over the world with his magical playing of the kora, the African harp. The musician from Mali has played the BIMHUIS several times in various ensembles, but never before has he appeared here with Moroccan oud player Driss El Maloumi, and Rajery, master of the valiha, the Malagasy zither.
