Sunday July 4 2021 in Roots Open Air: Solar Stage, Amsterdam
Start: 16:00
Vulnerability: communities as safe spaces & change makers
With: Dymphie Braun, Ishfarah, San Salvador, Paulami Joshi, Süheyla Yalçın en Yến-Nhi Lê
Our host Dymphie Braun will interview San Salvador band members from the south of France on how vulnerability plays a role in their musical practice.
Spoken word artist Ishfarah will perform an interdisciplinary performance.
Paulami Joshi, author of the cookbook ‘De Bijbel van de Indiase Keuken’ and contributor to the Amsterdam Roots Zine, joins us to talk about the relationship between community and food.
Finally, Dymphie Braun talks to Süheyla Yalçın and Yến-Nhi Lê about the online community platforms they set up during lockdown. With ‘NederTurk’, Yalçın offered a community and platform for untold stories. Lê created an online space for young Vietnamese Dutch people called mãi mãi collective. They both had the courage to share their personal stories, and to make themselves vulnerable in front of a large (online) audience. What has this vulnerability brought them? And how do they make it safe for others to be vulnerable too?
