Sitar & Electronics: ancient Indian ragas meet knife-edged German electronics

Ashraf Sharif Khan from Lahore, Pakistan is the son of Ustad Muhammad Sharif Khan Poonchwala, a grand master on the sitar from the generation of Ravi Shankar.
Viktor Marek, the beat maker of the duo, is co-owner of the infamous Golden Pudel Club in Hamburg and has previously worked with Jamie Lidell and Anthony "Shake" Shakir, among others.

How they met is shrouded in mystery, but by their own account they are intercontinental musical twins, separated at birth. Together they forge beats, bass and sitar into a whole new genre: 'Sufistep', with traces of hip-hop, electro and dub and acid house.
