Becoming decolonized

BECOMING is an immersive theatre programme developed by Loulou Sjerps, Alejandra Zabala, Rikkert van Huisstede and Rox Roxy Roxanna Verwey.
BECOMING is a programme created by queer people. In the performance bubble, queer becomes the norm, but ANYONE is welcome. After all, issues around gender and sexual identity do not belong only to the LGBTQIA+ community. This means that a story being told can be educational for one person, while for another visitor it means recognition and representation.

During this edition of BECOMING, Devika Chotoe (Fite Qlub) and Fazle Shairmahomed (Analemma) explore the process of decolonisation from an intersectional perspective. They challenge us to reflect on our individual and collective freedom and explore where our own blind spots are.

Through music, spoken word and collective dance ritual, we aim to heal ourselves and honour the ancestors. Together, we build a queer space of intimacy within which we can bridge our differences.
