Dareyn

Dareyn blends the mystical sound of the kemenche - rooted in the traditional music of Istanbul and the Silk Road - with the deep, contemporary sound of the cello. Emine Bostanci and Maya Fridman fuse their voices with their instrumental expertise, supported by percussionist Vinsent Planjer, and create an enchanting soundscape. Emine, with her lyrical kemenche, blends makams, taksim and elements of Sufi music, while Maya finds deeper meanings in the music with her cello. 

Besides their original repertoire, Dareyn will premiere 5 songs from the ‘Echoes of Cities’ project of Emine Bostanci. ‘Echoes of Cities’ is a creative project with original compositions inspired by her musical and cultural journey through the world; to create this unique repertoire Emine immersed herself in (the culture of) remarkable cities throughout the world to capture their ambiances in audiovisual improvisations. For this special repertoire Dareyn will have a guest artist Anoushiravan Saadat on guitar.
