Open Call Roots in Zuidoost X Amarte
Roots in Zuidoost X Amarte is a free and accessible multidisciplinary Performing Arts festival featuring two stages, workshops, and a vibrant bazaar in Amsterdam Zuidoost.
With this program, we offer a platform to creators who draw creativity and inspiration from their cultural roots, whether these roots lie deeply in local traditions or are a blend of various cultures. It’s for creators who either embrace traditions or give them a contemporary twist.
Are you a creator and want to perform at Roots in Zuidoost X Amarte? Then this is your chance. For this program, we are looking for (new) voices from creators in and around Amsterdam. We invite musicians, dancers, circus performers, spoken word artists, and other creatives to apply!

How?
A jury consisting of a curator from Amsterdam Roots, Amarte Fonds, and an independent curator will select 4 to 5 projects from the submissions.
The open call starts on July 23 and closes on August 18 at 23:59. The selection will be announced on September 3. The selected creators who decide to participate will receive a fee of €320 per person for their performance at the festival.

Important information for the application:
- You are available on September 28 between 12:00 and 19:00.
- The performance will take place on an outdoor stage. Make sure your act is suitable for an open-air setting. A basic setup will be provided. Artists must bring their own instruments/props. Note: there will be no projector/screen on the stage for displaying visuals during the act.
- The performance should be between 30 and 45 minutes, so plan your setlist accordingly.
- Only projects with a maximum of 5 members, including any supporting artists, will be selected.
