KEYBOARD MASTER OF THE ELECTRONIC DABKE
Ever since the Syrian artist Omar Souleyman was introduced in the West, the sound of the electronic dabke has overwhelmed the European festival audience. The musical brain behind Souleyman’s music is multi-instrumentalist Rizan Said. He was a promising artist at a young age and played a central role in the emergence of the modern dabke sound of Northeast Syria. With his critically acclaimed solo album, “The King of Keyboard”, Said presented for the first time his own radical version of the electronic dabke that he also plays at the Roots festival: experimental, psychedelic and rambunctiously danceable.
