A new band from the Ghanaian highlife circuit! The nine-member group Santrofi led by Emmanuel Ofori continues the highlife tradition, giving an exciting twist. The band has no lead, each member take over from each other; the musicians exchange each other’s instruments. There is no place for egos. In addition, you see the men moving in a well-thought-out choreographic plan, which raises the level of entertainment to great heights.
We know Emmanuel Ofori as the driven bass player of Pat Thomas, Kwashibu Area Band and the legendary Ebo Taylor. Highlife is a typical Ghanaian music form that goes back one hundred years. It is a cross-pollination of music from Africa, the US and the Caribbean. Characteristic are the irresistible rhythms, bass lines, sparkling guitars and the swinging wind section.
